§  Homeless Pole in Europe: what's the problem ?

Many Poles live homeless and without income in other European countries, often with associated health and

alcohol problems, which bring worrying mortality rates.

Support services for homeless people are often helpless in front of these problems because these people:

  • speak often only polish, and only a few words of the local language.

  • do not have the right to any income, following current rules in the European union, what makes that it is impossible to find long term solutions (mid term sheltering or reception centre, long term housing, ...)

  • generally do not want to go back to Poland (where they could benefit some social help)

  • the support  services have few or no contact at all with their polish counterparts
